Mathematical Aptitude Ratio and Proportion

Ratio and Proportion :- Ratio is used, when we comparing two quantities of the same type, and A proportion is the equality of two ratios.

Ratio and Proportion also will help to manage business, and daily life activity.

Solve Question Answer of Ratio and Proportion:-

1. There are 30 students in a class. The number of students who like Math and Science in the ratio 2:3. Find the number of students who like Math and the ones who like Science.

solution :-

total number of student is = 30
Ratio of Math and Science is = 2:3
so student of math and science is = total student * (Ratio of Math /Ratio of Math + Ratio of Science )
student of math is = total student * (Ratio of Math /Ratio of Math + Ratio of Science )
student of math is = 30 *(2/2+3)
student of math is = 30*(2/5)
student of math is = 6*2 = 12
student of science is = total student * (Ratio of Science /Ratio of Math + Ratio of Science )
student of science is = 30 *(3/2+3)
student of science is = 30 *(3/5)
student of science is = 6*3 = 18

2. A sum of money is to be distributed among A, B, C, D in the proportion of 4 : 5 : 3 : 2. If C gets Rs. 500 more than D, what is B’s share

solution :-

Total number of participant is = A, B, C, D
The proportion 4 : 5 : 3 : 2 money is to be distributed
share of A = 4x
share of B = 5x
share of C =3x
share of D = 2x
In question mention that, If C gets Rs. 500 more than D
3x – 2x = 500
x = 500
share of B = 5x
share of B = 5 * 500
share of B = 2500

3. Seats for Mathematics, Physics and Biology in a school are in the ratio 10 : 6 : 4. Management told to increase these seats by 40%, 50% and 75% respectively. What is the ratio of new seat.

solution :-

Seats for Mathematics, Physics and Biology in the ratio 10 : 6 : 4
Seats for Mathematics = 10
Seats for Physics = 6
Seats for Biology = 4
Increase the seats by 40%, 50% and 75% respectively in Mathematics, Physics and Biology
New Seats
for Mathematics = 10+ 10 *40/100 =
for Mathematics = 10+4 = 14

New Seats

for Physics = 6+6*50/100
for Physics = 6+ 3 = 9
New Seats
for Biology = 4+4*75/100
for Biology = 4 + 3 = 7
Ratio of increased seats =
New Seats for Mathematics / New Seats for Physics / New Seats for Biology
Ratio of increased seats = 14 / 9 / 7
Ratio of increased seats = 14 : 9 : 7

4. In a mixture 50 litres, the ratio of milk and water 3 : 2. If this ratio is to be 2 : 3, How much water is required to added is:

solution :-

we have mixture of 50 litres
Ratio of Milk and Water is 3 : 2
Quantity of milk is = Total mixture * (Ratio of milk /Ratio of milk + Ratio of water )
Quantity of milk is = 50 * (3/3+2)
Quantity of milk is = 50* 3/5
Quantity of milk is = 10*3 = 30 litres
Quantity of water is = Total mixture – Quantity of milk
Quantity of water is = 50 litres – 30 litres
Quantity of water is = 20 litres
now , ratio is to be 2 : 3
Quantity of milk is = 2x = 30
X = 30/2 = 15

Quantity of water is = 3x = ?
Quantity of water is = 3*15
Quantity of water is = 45
Quantity of water to be added is = current quantity of water is – Old quantity of water
Quantity of water to be added is = 45 litres – 20 litres
Answer is = 25 litres
